Could Tottenham Hotspur Star Harry Kane Copy Aaron Rodgers’ Exit Strategy?

Could renowned NFL fan Harry Kane ‘do an Aaron Rodgers’ to force his way out of Tottenham Hotspur this summer?

Kane has been one of the stars of the English Premier League for several years now, but while his stock has risen dramatically Spurs have failed to grow with him.

They did make it all the way to the UEFA Champions League Final a couple of years ago, but that is the only real notable success they have managed, and a lack of silverware has left the England forward cutting a frustrated figure.

Kane’s future was the subject of much speculation throughout Euro 2020 and it promises to be one of, if not the biggest soccer transfer story of the summer now that Lionel Messi has inked a new deal with Barcelona.

The England skipper reportedly wants out of North London and there will be no shortage of potential suitors for a man of his talents. According to the betting odds, Man City lead the way for his signature.

Long-time admirers Manchester United have reportedly pulled out of the race after landing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, but neighbors Manchester City appear to be very eager to land the striker following the summer departure of Sergio Aguero.

City certainly have the bank balance required to meet Kane’s financial demands, but before they can discuss a deal they will need to reach an agreement with Tottenham, and Spurs insist they are not interested in parting with their most prized asset.

But could Kane force their hand by copying what is playing out with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay this offseason? Rodgers’ future with the Packers has been the NFL’s biggest story since the 2020 season came to a close, and at this point it is common knowledge that the 2020 NFL MVP wants out of Green Bay.

Rodgers’ reasons for wanting out are very different to Kane’s, but could his methods in attempting to force a move inspire the soccer ace? Kane, a New England Patriots fan, will have almost certainly been paying attention to the Rodgers situation. Could he now follow #12s lead?

Kane would not be the first Tottenham player to skip training in order to force a move away. Gareth Bale successfully used that tactic to force through a switch to Real Madrid several years ago.

If Kane takes the same approach with the Premier League season just around the corner, Spurs may feel they have no option but to let their star man walk. And if he walks out of London and into Manchester that will really rub salt in the wound.
