Watch: Olivier Giroud scores a brace minutes after coming on the pitch

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud opened his account in the 2016-2017 season with a brace just minutes after being subbed on. Arsenal had just surrendered a penalty against Sunderland to draw the two teams level. Arsene Wenger responded by bringing on his French center forward. Giroud, who has been dealing with injuries, hadn’t scored a Premier League goal since last season’s meeting with Aston Ville.

The striker repaid his manager just two minutes after coming on when he got his left foot on the end of a Kieran Gibbs cross. His shot found it’s way into the back of the net to restore Arsenal’s advantage. It was his first touch of the game.

Five minutes after scoring his first goal of the season, Giroud added a second when he got ahold of a Mesut Özil corner, and looped the ball over keeper Jordan Pickford. It was his second touch of the game.
