Here at 32 Flags, we’re proud to announce that we will be covering the National Women’s Soccer League with weekly updates on significant action as well as a Standings and Schedule page so you can see how each team is doing and who is playing when. World Cup stars are beginning to return to their regular club sides just as the season is reaching its apex, so get out there and support women’s club soccer!
The FIFA Women’s World Cup is over. The United States are champions, and the entire nation celebrates women’s athletics, Title IX, and Carli Lloyd’s greatness.
But did you realize that Carli Lloyd plays club soccer for the Houston Dash? And Alex Morgan for the Portland Thorns? Megan Rapinoe and Hope Solo for the Seattle Reign? And that every other woman on the champion team plays for an American squad? [Note: Except for Abby Wambach, who took the year off to rest for the World Cup].
The NWSL plays some very high level soccer. Basically every women you just saw play in the FIFA Women’s World Cup plays for one of these clubs, 52 of them in fact. This means that the NWSL is absolutely unparalleled when it comes to women’s soccer talent worldwide, but really, just watch some games. This stuff is good.
