Oh You Beauty!: Goals of the Week 4/14/2015

5. Chory Castro vs Deportivo

What a beautiful volleyed goal. The precision on the pass to find Castro on the wing was excellent but most defenses would have expected Castro to cross the ball. Instead, Chory Castro opts for the spectacular, smacking the ball first time in the air, rocketing it into the net.

4. Valentin Stocker vs Hannover

I had a really hard time choosing between this and Chory Castro’s volley for 3rd. What ultimately decided it was that this shot had to make it through a crowd of Hannover defenders. What a hit it was, too. Valentine Stocker uses the full weight of his body as he turns to put that extra bit of zip on the ball. Stocker hits a shocker.

3. Alvaro Negredo vs Levante

If the choice between the last two goals was close, the distance between these two is minuscule. Alvaro Negredo’s chip on the keeper was a masterclass. His celebration says it all. Here is a player that knows how good he is. It is a shame he’s been hitting some bad form lately, ever since his move to Manchester City, because he’s a great striker. This goal shows that that player is still in there.

2. Robert Lewandowski vs Frankfurt

What else can I say except that this is a wondergoal? The skill that Lewandowski needs to flick the ball over his head and volley it leaves me in awe. There’s a slight claim that he may have been offside, but that shouldn’t take away from what a magnificent goal it is.

1. German Denis vs Sassuolo

If Lewandowski’s goal was a wondergoal, I have no idea what this is. A backheel volleyed pass to a headed flick to bicycle kick goal? That just doesn’t happen in real life. That only happens in FIFA. Truly a video game goal there.
