TWEET: Alex Morgan To Be On FIFA 16 Cover, Along With Lionel Messi

Alex Morgan, who is one of the most recognizable stars of the United States Women’s National Team (and women’s soccer in general), will graze the cover of the United States’ version of FIFA 16. This year’s cover is a historic one as Morgan will be the first woman ever to be on the cover of the storied FIFA video game franchise in the United States.

Surely, this is a response from EA to the success and recent World Cup championship of the U.S. ladies and the fact that many fans were clamoring for EA to pay homage to the USWNT. This is also fitting as this is the first edition of FIFA to include women’s soccer squads and will contain 12 playable women’s international teams.

This is what the cover will look like, as we see Morgan wearing the USWNT kit that has the third star above the crest. Take a look.

Morgan will not be the only woman to be featured on this year’s edition of FIFA, however, as Christine Sinclair, in the Canadian version, and Steph Catley, in the Australian edition, will also be featured alongside Messi. Have a look.

This is a huge achievement in women’s soccer as it is gaining the respect it has been denied for so long. Hopefully, as the year pass by, EA will incorporate more women’s soccer into their video games and not just feature them on World Cup years, when women’s soccer experiences a big rise in popularity.
