Video: Saul puts Atletico ahead with fantastic individual goal

After suffering through the slop that was Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League semifinal first leg between Manchester City and Real Madrid fans were desperate for an early goal in the first leg of Wednesday’s semifinal between Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich.

It was always going to be a tough task for Bayern to break down Atleti’s rigid defense. With Atletico being the home side the pressure was always on them to get a positive result in the first leg. The question was, where would they get a goal from.

Up stepped Spanish midfielder Saul Niguez Esclapez, or as he’s simply known, Saul. As a holding midfielder Saul isn’t exactly known for his goal scoring, but when he got the ball in the middle of the field 10 minutes into the match, he went on a sensational run that even the most skilled of players would be envious of.

A clinical finish and Atletico have found their early goal. I’d expect to sit back and try to make this lead stand up for the rest of this one.
