Dortmund draw Real Madrid and Leicester get big win in Champions League

1) Biggest winner –  Leicester City

After two matches, the surprise English champs have two wins, including a 1-0 win against their likely group rival Porto. Within Group G, Leicester is up by five points over third place Porto. Before the tournament, people were debating whether or not Leicester would get eaten alive in the Champions League. A win against Copenhagen in the third matchday will all but clinch advancement and a result in the return against Porto will likely clinch the group.

2) Standout performer – Heung-Min Son – Tottenham

Despite not havign Harry Kane or Eric Dier or Moussa Sissoko, Tottenham had no problem getting three points. Heung-Min Son has broken out to be a star this season and he stayed true to his form, scoring the winning goal against CSKA Moscow.

3) Biggest loser –  Club Brugge

Most likely Club Brugge’s only chance to grab any sort of result in the Champions League ended up in a 4-0 dismantling by Copenhagen. It’s clear that they may very much leave with zero points and out of the Champions League.

4) Best tweet

Christian Pulisic came on as a sub in the 73rd minute but he made an impact, setting up some great passes as well as the cross to set up Andre Schurrle’s equalizer.

5) Best goal –  Thomas Delaney – Copenhagen and Paulo Dybala – Juventus

What can you say about these goals? The long range, 30 yard strike went straight for the goal and just wouldn’t stop until it went in the back of the net. Both Delaney and Dybala will have candidates for goal of the tournament.

6) Extra time

Tomorrow, it’s the first four groups taking shape. Notable matches include Monchengladbach vs. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid vs. Bayern Munich. Arsenal takes on Basel, Manchester City goes to play Celtic and Napoli will face Benfica.
