France pull out to a 4-0 goal lead over Iceland at halftime

The Icelandic dream is all but over as France scored four goals in the first half to lead Iceland 4-0 at halftime in the final Euro 2016 Quarterfinal contest. The winner would face Germany in the Semifinal on Thursday.

France’s first goal was scored in the 12th minute as Olivier Giroud was able to get behind the Icelandic backline and score the difficult goal from the left side of the box.

Then just seven minutes later, Paul Pogba jumped to head in Antoine Griezmann’s corner to go up 2-0.

Iceland was holding on but the wheels completely fell apart right before halftime. Dimitri Payet trickled in France’s third goal in the 42nd minute.

Okay a third goal right before halftime proved critical for Iceland’s comeback but another goal just a couple minutes later just about ended that. Antoine Griezmann got France their fourth goal before completely ending the first half and they are well on their way to meet up with Germany.
