WATCH: Jerome Boateng gives Germany 1-0 lead in Euro 2016 Round of 16

What a start for Germany. The current World Cup champions are looking for European glory to tack on to their illustrious trophy case. They had a great start in their Euro 2016 round of 16 game against Slovakia as Jerome Boateng as he scored a fantastic goal to give Germany the 1-0 lead early on in the first half.

Off a corner kick, Tony Kroos took the initial kick from the corner and it was cleared away by a Slovakian defender as he headed the ball away from danger. Unfortunately for him, he headed it straight to a charging Boateng that was running unmarked.

From there, Boateng just reared back and unleashed a powerful shot that he placed perfectly into the bottom left corner out of the reach of the Slovakian goalkeeper. Check out this powerful blast from Boateng:

What an amazing strike by a gifted player like Boateng, who has been a great performer for the German national team. With that, Germany leads 1-0, but will they be able to hold on to the lead?
