Can Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein be FIFA’s Savior?

Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein has announced via Twitter that he is running against Sepp Blatter for President of FIFA. The FIFA Vice-President and Executive Committee member from Jordan has been representing Asia as VP since 2010 and is a graduate of Princeton.

The Prince has showed during his time with FIFA that he is a different kind of FIFA representative. He recently was one of three members who turned in a $25k watch from a FIFA sponsor to the ethics committee while others had accepted their watches. He also has been vocal in publishing the Garcia Report.

The Prince took to Twitter to announce his candidacy where he tweeted the following.

This sounds like the type of President FIFA needs right now. Someone who is going to be ethical and who is going to be an organization for all and not for those in FIFA to get rich. The issue is that Sepp Blatter, regardless of what he does, still holds a lot of power and support. No matter who runs against him, it’s going to be tough to unseat Blatter as FIFA President. Either way, Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein is certainly going to be the popular choice among soccer fans.
