VIDEO: Controversial call gives USWNT win over England

The US Women’s National Team rebounded from their 2-0 loss to France with a 1-0 win against England in Milton Keynes. While Alex Morgan scored her 50th goal on a beauty of a header and the USWNT played much better than in France, it can be argued that they still didn’t deserve the win against England.

England scored a nice goal in the 56th minute of the game. Fran Kirby rocketed a shot that got blocked by USWNT goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris and went off the post as Jodie Taylor followed up on the rebound. It would’ve been 1-1 but Taylor was ruled offside when Harris took the shot. The replay showed that Taylor was onside by a lot.

In the end, the USWNT got the win and they played better but they don’t look like they’re where they should be for the Women’s World Cup in June. the USWNT will play in the Algarve Cup in March where they will face Norway, Switzerland and Iceland and a fourth opponent yet to be determined in a span of a week. That will be the true test to see if the USWNT is ready for the Women’s World Cup.
