NE Revs and former USMNT forward Charlie Davies recently battled cancer, in remission

Former U.S. Men’s National Team forward Charlie Davies has experienced a rough life. Now, in a Fox exclusive, it has been revealed that the current New England Revolution player has been battling cancer but is now in remission.

In a statement from the Revolution, It was revealed that Davies was suffering from Liposarcoma, a rare cancer of the fat cells. He is now in remission and the way it sounds, is expected to make a full recovery and eventually be back on the pitch.

Today, New England Revolution forward Charlie Davies shared that earlier this spring he was diagnosed and treated for liposarcoma and that he is now in remission. It was important for Charlie to concentrate on his family and treatment during the past few weeks and the club honored his wish for privacy. The New England Revolution will continue to support him through full recovery and are looking forward to seeing him back out on the pitch. Any fans who wish to share support should tweet or tag messages to Charlie at @CharlieDavies9 or use the hashtag #CD9.

This comes off a serious car crash in 2009 that left him with multiple fractures all over his face and body, lacerated bladder and bleeding in the brain that almost killed him. Davies came back from that to play soccer again.

Since then, Davies and his wife suffered another setback earlier this year as their twin boys were born three months premature. All this while Davies found out about his diagnosis and receiving treatment.

Fox is going to have a feature on Davies Sunday at 1:30, before the Sporting Kansas City vs. Portland Timbers MLS match. Just watching the preview, it looks like something that cannot be missed.
