PowerShares Series Returns This Week With Two of Three Events In Texas

The 2015 PowerShares Series is a competitive tennis circuit featuring legendary tennis icons and world-renowned champions such as Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Andy Roddick, John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Michael Chang, James Blake, and Mark Philippoussis. The 12-city tour of one-night tournaments is played in major arenas during March and April 2015 and so far to date, four tournaments have been completed.

As of April 14, Roddick is leading the way decisively with 1200 points, while Philippoussis is second with 600 points. Trailing behind them, in order, is Blake (500), Courier (400), McEnroe (300) and Agassi (200). Roddick has played in three of the four tournaments and actually won all three he competed in. Roddick won in Los Angeles, California on March 25, Lincoln, Nebraska on April 1, and Chicago, Illinois on April 2. In the most recent one, Roddick defeated McEnroe in the finals.

This week, there are three Powershares Series events in three consecutive days on April 16, April 17 and April 18. Two of the events are located in Texas—the April 16 event is in Austin, while the April 18 event is in Dallas. Tennis fans looking to attend the events can get a two-for-one deal when booking flights to Austin or flights to Dallas through Hipmunk.com. Staying in either city will have you within three hours of each event.

The event on April 17 is slated to be held in Little Rock, Arkansas. Tickets for all three Powershares Series events can be found for under $24 through the event’s website.

April 16’s “Champions Shootout” will have Blake, Courier, McEnroe and Roddick. April 17’s “Champions Cup” will include Courier, McEnroe, Philippoussis and Roddick, which is the same roster for the event on April 18, named the “Champions Showdown.” Each tournament features four Champions paired off in one set semi-finals and culminates with the winners meeting in a one-set championship match.

McEnroe won last year’s PowerShares Series points title by winning four events.
