Tony Finau made sure he apologized the right way after unintentionally injuring a fan.

During the Dean & DeLuca invitational, one of Finau’s errant shots ended up bouncing wide and hitting a fan in the head. The young lady, Elisa, who was hit with the golf ball, had to get stitches after the ball bloodied her face.

Finau probably felt awful, but what he did to rectify the unfortunate situation was impressive. He showed up at the fan’s door with flowers, chocolates and a get well card. Elisa seemed more than thrilled with meeting the golfer and said in an Instagram post that she forgave Finau and that he’s her new favorite golfer.

Finau went above and beyond to go to Elisa’s home and make sure she was alright. I’m sure he must have been mortified to accidentally hit her with a golf ball. Usually when this happens a golfer might walk over to the fan and give them a glove or a ball, but Finau went the extra mile here. Giving her chocolates, flowers and having a conversation must have made Elisa feel special. It’s rare to see a professional athlete to go above and beyond what’s necessary during situations like this.

Kudos to Finau for making what could have been a bad situation, great. He’s got a new fan because of it.
