Miami Jackson high school has dipped in the celebrity pool for it’s latest hirings, as the school announced they’ve hired Lakatriona Brunson, aka Bernice from the truTV docudrama South Beach Tow, as their head coach.

They also hired former rapper Luther Campbell, aka Uncle Luke, as the assistant head coach.

The hiring of Brunson marks the first female football head coach hiring in Florida history. While South Beach Tow has made her somewhat famous, Lakatriona Brunson has some roots in football, as she was a former defensive end for the Miami Fury of the Independent Women’s Football League.

After charting six different albums on the Billboard 200, Campbell became the defensive coordinator for Miami Norland Senior High School in 2014. He announced on his Instagram page he’s resigning from the position.

Campbell also has plenty of history with the University of Miami, as detailed in Billy Corben’s The U 30 for 30 documentary.

The moves may seem like hires that pander to Brunson’s and Campbell’s fame, but both have experience in the game, and Brunson’s hiring is a great step for inclusion at the high school ranks.

Plus, if the school needs a hype man during half time, they have one on the sidelines.
