Sundays at Chase Field will literally be going to the dogs this baseball season, as the Arizona Diamondbacks take “Bark at the Park” to the next level.

The D-backs, in partnership with PetSmart, announced the creation of the PetSmart Patio — a specially-designed seating area in left field that allows fans to watch the Diamondbacks alongside their canine companions.

The whole idea of dogs and baseball together on a regular basis is dope, one likely enthusiastically supported by noted animal lover and advocate Tony La Russa, the team’s chief baseball officer. (La Russa started the Animal Rescue Foundation in 1991.) Here are more details on the space itself.

The patio, located on the main concourse behind the left-center field wall will allow for an exclusive area complete with a grassy play area. It will feature multi-teared seating with an outdoor and indoor (air conditioned) dog park.

According to a press release, the outdoor park will feature a baseball theme complete with a baseball diamond and grassy outfield for dogs to explore, play with other dogs and a spot for them to do their business. In addition, pets can enjoy concessions such as dog-friendly ice cream complete with toppings.

PetSmart (whose home office is based in Phoenix, Ariz.) will even set up an adoption area, so fans can take home more than just a souvenir from the team shop.

The program is officially called the Dog Days of Summer, and the first of 13 opportunities to bring your dog to the park begins April 10 when Arizona hosts the Chicago Cubs.
