The season-long retirement tour for David Ortiz made a stop in Houston Friday, where the Boston Red Sox were visiting the Houston Astros. As many teams will do when Ortiz makes his final appearance in their home stadium, the Astros honored Ortiz during a brief pregame ceremony in a way you would expect from Houston.

The Astros honored Ortiz with a custom black cowboy hat, specially designed and fitted for the face of the Red Sox.

Cowboy attire has become a staple of the Houston Astros when the opportunity to honor one of the game’s finest plays his final games. Two years ago the Astros were given a chance to pay their respects to New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter. They did so by presenting the Yankees captain with a pair of specially designed cowboy boots with Yankee pinstripes and his number on them along with a hat and a set of golf clubs.
