Major League

Four Cleveland Indians fans showed some love to Major League on Friday night traveling to Anaheim to watch the Tribe take on the Angels in specialized character jerseys.

A fan named Bill, his sons Liam, Logan and Jared sported custom Major League jerseys at Angel Stadium celebrating their favorite characters from the hit 1989 baseball comedy. If you’re not familiar, the jerseys pictured are Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn, Roger Dorn, Lou Brown, and Pedro Cerrano.

The Ohio family even has more character jerseys not shown in the picture.

Each summer, the gang travels to each park the Indians play at, always in their “Major League” unis: That’s dad Bill as manager Lou Brown, twins Liam and Logan as Vaughn and Dorn, respectively, and Jared as Cerrano. And before you get up in arms, don’t worry, they left no character unrepresented — Bill’s wife, his daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend cover Willie Mays Hays, Jake Taylor and even Jack Parkman from “Major League II.”

The jerseys seemed to have brought the Indians luck. Corey Kluber pitched a complete game and Jason Kipnis picked up three hits in Cleveland’s 6-2 victory over the Angels, the first place Tribe’s eighth win in their last ten games.

It’s cool to see Major League live on more than 25 years after it was initially released. Despite inspiring less than stellar sequels (let’s pretend Major League: Back to the Minors never happened OK?), the raunchy baseball comedy resonated with many people and fans in Cleveland.

Bill and his family clearly are in that group, as they love the movies – even the sequels. Celebrating a Cleveland victory while wearing them must have felt very special, even if Wild Thing himself didn’t pick up the victory.
