Remember when Mark McGwire used to hit home runs into Big Mac Land and everyone won a hamburger? Well this is kinda like that, but with beer.

Brandon Laird of the Nippon Ham Fighters (and formerly of the New York Yankees and Houston Astros) was at-bat in the Sapporo Dome on Tuesday when he socked a home run that hit the Kirin Brewery sign.

Doing so entitled him to a year’s supply of Kirin beer, not to mention a nice little financial boost as well.

It’s all par for the course for Laird since joining the Fighters. Last year he hit 34 home runs and boasted a .789 OPS. Considering he only hit six home runs in 53 career games with the Yankees and Astros, he must prefer the baseball over there. And the beer.
