Ozzie Guillen managed the Chicago White Sox from 2004-2011, and was one of the most entertaining personalities in the sport while doing so. He’s also always been one of the most honest people around the game, and has made it no secret in the past that he very, very much enjoys having his fair share of alcoholic beverages.

Take these Guillen comments from 2012 — while managing the Miami Marlins — as an example (excerpt via CBS Sports):

What does a big-league manager do after a game? For Ozzie Guillen, the answer is simple.

“I go to the hotel bar, get drunk, sleep,” Guillen said before Thursday’s game with the Reds. “I don’t do anything else.”

“I get drunk because I’m happy we win or I get drunk because I’m very sad and disturbed because we lose,” Guillen said. “Same routine, it never changes. It’s been the same routine for 25, 28 years. It doesn’t change. I don’t like to go out.”

In the morning, he said, he may play golf and then get sushi for lunch before going to the ballpark.

“I don’t have time,” Guillen said. “I’ve got to be here early, and I go to sleep so drunk that I have to recover in time to go to the park.”

So, it should come as no surprise that Guillen recently revealed that he was extremely hungover from a long night of drinking, during his interview with Kenny Williams for the Chicago White Sox managerial position. In this awesome ESPN video (featuring some great animation), Guillen explains in detail how he was in completely miserable shape that day, and doesn’t remember much of anything:

Well, Guillen of course got the job, and that ended up being a great thing for the White Sox. Guillen went on to lead the White Sox to a rock-solid 678-617 record (.524 winning percentage) in his time there, and led them to a World Series title in 2005.
