Some athletes have certain quirks. Adrian Beltre’s quirk is he doesn’t like people touching his head. Fortunately, his bobblehead has no such problem.

The Texas Rangers will hand out a specially designed bobblehead of Beltre to fans this season (August 14). What makes this bobblehead so unique is the baseball helmet will be removable so fans can rub the head of bobblehead Beltre at will, without the risk of Beltre or his bobblehead reacting in a not-so-kind fashion.

In case you have no idea how Beltre reacts when someone touches his head, let’s take a trip down memory lane.

The Rangers will be giving away nine bobbleheads this season. In the “oh no they didn’t” category of bobblehead giveaways, one of the giveaways is a Jeff Banister bobblehead in his throwback powder-blue uniform on April 19, when the Houston Astros come to town. Why is that significant?

The bobblehead will be wearing the same uniform Banister did when the Rangers wore those uniforms on July 18 last season, when Banister and Houston manager A.J. Hinch exchanged some choice words as both benches cleared

There will also be a four-person bobblehead, it appears, featuring Beltre, Ivan Rodriguez, Nolan Ryan, and Michael Young on July 10. Elvis Andrus will be featured in a Star Wars-inspired bobblehead on Augusty 27, and new ace Cole Hamels will get his first Rangers bobblehead on July 10.

In related bobblehead news, the Atlanta Braves will be giving away a special “Chipper Jones saves Freddie Freeman” bobblehead this season as well.
