Veteran MLB outfielder outfielder Delmon Young was arrested late Sunday night after being accused of choking and threatening a valet and, once again, making racially-slanted remarks during the assault.

According to Andy Slater of Slater Scoops, the incident took place in Miami. Young allegedly grabbed a valet by the neck at the Viceroy hotel after he wasn’t allowed access to a club. The remarks allegedly made by Young aren’t pretty.
“Stupid Cuban, open the f–king door,” Young allegedly told the victim. After repeatedly telling Young he couldn’t open the door because the club was closed, Young said “I’m gonna f–king kill you, you Latin piece of sh-t” and then reached over the valet podium and grabbed the victim around his neck with both hands, strangling him, the police report states.
Slater reports Young fled the scene after the victim broke free. Police found Young at his home, where he was found “naked from his waist down,” and claimed he didn’t know anything about the alleged assault. Young then reportedly went postal on a cop.
Just before getting arrested, Young told the cop on scene, “I’ll slap you in the face with money you f–king Cuban,” the report says.
It’s been a long fall from grace for the former first overall pick. He was arrested in 2012 and pled guilty to a hate crime after using antisemitic slurs. Despite the off-field racism, Young has had no trouble finding employment in recent years, as he appeared in 52 games with the Baltimore Orioles during the 2015 season, hitting .270/.289/.339 before being released by the club in July.
However, he remained unsigned in the second half of the 2015 season, and hasn’t even signed a minor league deal with a new club this offseason. You have to think this latest incident will affect the 30-year-old free agent’s already tainted stock.
