The St. Louis Cardinals were looking to give away some tickets to loyal followers on Instagram this weekend. All fans had to do was share their “opening week” pictures with the Cardinals on the social media platform.

Well, apparently the Cardinals were having so much fun on opening week that they became the Cincinnati Reds for this promotion. That’s because the club never bothered to catch that the picture attached to its Instagram post was none other than the loyal Reds fans wearing Joe Morgan and Eric Milton jerseys.

It’s really unmistakable when you also notice the Great American Insurance advertising in the picture as well.

Here is a look at the Instagram post via Fox Sports:

The Cardinals caught the mistake a few hours after the post was made, but the damage was done.

How hard is it to pick out your own team in graphical form. Yes, we get that the teams share red and white as the main colors, but the jerseys and players are nothing alike. Oh, and Busch Stadium’s seating and stadium should be pretty easy for any Cardinals employee to pick up.

No doubt a major gaff by someone in the Cardinals social media department, and good luck coming back from that one.
