Because LA is so expansive, a car is a necessity because nothing is within walking distance. And if you have ever lived in or visited Los Angeles, you have a story about being stuck in LA traffic. Well, these two LA Dodgers fans said “screw this” and decided to walk to Dodger Stadium…from Sherman Oaks…22 miles away.

Nine hours before the Dodger game started, 57-year-old Rick Gottesman and 56-year-old Jay Levitt parked their car in Sherman Oaks and walked the remaining 22 miles to Dodger stadium. When asked why they did it, Gottesman said, “We’ve always been sports nuts, and we thought it’d be a good way to kill an afternoon.” Lewitt said, “It’s another way to see the city. As they build more sound walls, you see less and less of the place.”

That sounds more like what people say when they go to a sports event in New York City. Now, everything is combined into a succinct location so while it’s still can be a bit of a trek to walk from downtown Manhattan to Yankee Stadium, it’s not nearly 22 miles.

On their way, Gottesman and Levitt ran into a photographer who took their picture, as well as a “minor Seinfeld cast member” and walk through places they had never seen or hadn’t seen in a very long time.

Gottesman and Levitt were hoping to get to Dodger Stadium by the fifth inning but they got there much earlier. On top of walking 22 miles, these these guys even dispelled a popular LA stereotype of showing up fashionably late to Dodger games to show up before Clayton Kershaw threw his first pitch. So even though LA traffic can be a pain, there’s no excuse to show up late if two people can walk 22 miles and get there on time.
