On Monday night at Kauffman Stadium, St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright came oh so close to pulling a Randy Johnson. This could mean a lot of things (like striking out 20 batters in a game, or scaring the crap out of John Kruk), but I’m referring to the time in 2001 where Randy Johnson hit a bird with a pitch in Spring Training:

Well, thankfully for this bird in Kansas City, Wainwright barely missed with his pitch:

While Wainwright didn’t hit any birds, he did hit a lot of (baseball) bats. The Royals pounded out nine hits and six runs (four earned) off Wainwright over five innings, in a 6-2 Kansas City win.
