New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is quickly letting his thirst for rare cars and quirks in the food department become public knowledge. On Wednesday morning the two apparently crossed paths, per a Newsday report.
Cespedes apparently has an adverse opinion of square waffles (does this mean Cespedes is not a fan of Belgian waffles out?). His dislike for the square breakfast food is so bad that he asked a Mets spring training staffer to make a run to a local store for a round waffle maker to be put in the clubhouse.
A strange quirk and a strange request, but at least the star player was down-to-earth enough to allow said staffer to take his nearly $400,000 black Lamborghini Aventador while running his errand.
Don’t worry though, it was just one of three vehicles Cepedes has had at spring training in the past four days though. He started the week out with a more modest Ford F-250 (worth about $60,000) before changing it up on Tuesday with a three-wheeled Polaris Slingshot and now the Lamborghinin Aventador.
Apparently the staffer got to have some extended fun, as the local Port St. Lucie Wal-Mart was fresh out of round waffle makers. It meant a run to the local Target and a longer trip in a car tricked out to throw some serious flames out the exhaust too.
Hey, if you’re going to go full superstar on your waffle requests, at least you can let the staffer have some fun in a rare car, right?
