ESPN’s Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne reported early Tuesday morning that Blake Griffin suffered a “suspected broken hand in undisclosed team-related incident“.

We now know that Griffin injured his right hand after hitting a member of the team’s equipment staff during an argument, per ESPN’s Michael Eaves.

Eaves reports that Griffin and the member of the equipment staff got into an argument in a restaurant during a Clippers trip to Toronto.

Doc Rivers said Tuesday morning at Clippers practice that the team would issue a statement on the situation. The Clippers are set to take on the Pacers Tuesday night in Indianapolis, and the Hawks in Atlanta Wednesday night.

Griffin was already nursing a quad injury, and was expected to return to the Clippers in the near future. With this hand injury, Griffin is expected to be out for multiple weeks.

Although Griffin is a big loss, the Clippers have done well in his absence. The team has gone 11-3, after starting off the season slow, with a 17-13 record. They currently stand 4th in the Western Conference, behind Golden State, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City.

This is not Griffin’s first altercation. In late 2014, he was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery after allegedly getting into an altercation in a Las Vegas nightclub.

The man alleged that Griffin grabbed his cell phone because he didn’t want photos being taken of him. He would be cleared of the charges a few months after the incident.
