The Cleveland Cavaliers had a neat giveaway during Wednesday’s Game 2 matchup against the Atlanta Hawks. The team partnered with Budweiser and the tech company YinzCam to give away a limited number of virtual reality cardboard headsets that also doubled as beer holders.

The headsets are customized with VR to work with the team’s phone app which will give fans a chance to watch a number of produced VR videos. Fans wearing the headsets will be put into a virtual reality, with 360-degree video. As is the case with most VR’s, fans will feel like they’re actually in the environment projected. The video is supposed to “take fans inside the game day experience.” The promotion sounds very similar to Google Cardboard, which is basically the same thing.

It’s neat for the Cavaliers to embrace virtual reality and to get fans involved. The experience will add a neat, new dimension to the fan experience and it wouldn’t be at all surprised to see other teams follow in suit. The future is pretty rad.
