Hornets scoreboard

The Charlotte Hornets are currently 7th in the Eastern Conference, but the announcement and renderings of their new scoreboard might have some fans looking past a potential playoff appearance and towards next season already.

The new scoreboard for Time Warner Cable Arena will be the largest in the NBA according to the team, and even comes complete with honeycomb and hornet wing motifs. According to the team, the two sideline boards will be 25.2′ by 42.8′ wide and the two endzone boards will be 18′ by 31.3′. All of the boards on the current scoreboard measure in at 16′ by 24′.

The current largest scoreboard in the NBA belongs to the Cleveland Cavaliers, who named their board “Humongotron” when it was put into service at the beginning of last season. I guess this is one area where the Hornets are better than the Cavs.

If you want to read more about other upgrades to Time Warner Cable Arena other than the megaboard, you can do so here.
