The Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers were deadlocked in their Game 4 battle, when things took a turn in the absolute wrong direction for the Clippers.

Chris Paul was making a play on the ball as Portland’s Gerald Henderson was driving to the basket, and suffered a broken right hand. Paul was ruled out for the rest of the game as a result of the injury.

The injury was officially described by the Clippers PR team as a third metacarpal fracture, which connects the middle finger to the wrist. According to SB Nation’s CelticsBlog, the average player has had to wait 42 days to return from such an injury.

The injury could not have come at a worse time for the Los Angeles Clippers, who have been battling a Portland Trail Blazers team that has shown a lot of fight in this first-round Western Conference series.

With Stephen Curry’s injury Sunday afternoon, along with Paul’s injury Monday night, it hasn’t been a great couple of days to be an NBA point guard.
