Kemba Walker is having the best season of his five-year career, averaging 19.1 points per game entering Monday, but he took things to the next level during the Hornets’ game against the Jazz this afternoon.

The former UConn star scored 52 points on 16-34 shooting in his team’s double-0vertime victory, adding nine rebounds, and eight assists for good measure. Walker’s 52 points were the most ever scored in the NBA on Martin Luther King Day.

The performance earned Walker the Hornets’ franchise-record for points in a game, previously held by Glen Rice, who scored 48 in one contest in 1997.

Walker’s 52 points also gave him the third highest-scoring game in the NBA this season, behind only Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler, who each scored 53 in a single contest earlier in the year.
