When Monty Williams’ wife, Ingrid, died in car accident last month at age 44, basketball understandably became a secondary concern for the Thunder assistant coach.

Williams has not coached since his wife died, and on Friday Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears reported he will not return to the bench this season.

Williams is also slated as an assistant coach for the United States Olympic team in this summer, but according to ESPN’s Marc Stein U.S.A. basketball will give Williams as much time as he needs to decide whether or not to join the team in Rio de Janeiro.

Obviously this is an awful situation for Williams and his family, and of course he has to do whatever is best for him, whether or not that involves basketball.
