After getting embarrassed 108-70 by the Oklahoma City Thunder in game one of their first-round series on Saturday, the Dallas Mavericks rebounded with a stunning 85-84 game two victory on Monday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
It initially appeared that the Thunder had come away with a win and 2-0 series lead, when Thunder big man Steven Adams had this tip-in at the buzzer:
However, the officials reviewed the play, and correctly determined that the ball did not leave Adams’ hands before the buzzer:
The key to Dallas’ upset was certainly on the defensive side of the ball. After allowing the Thunder to shoot 45% from the field in game one, they Mavericks held Oklahoma City to 33.7% this time around. And here’s the big one: They held Kevin Durant to 7-of-33 shooting.
Mavericks win!
Kevin Durant: 7-of-33 from field
26 missed shots is most in playoff game since Michael Jordan missed 26 in 1997

How big of an upset was this? Oh just the biggest (by point spread) in the NBA playoffs in 20 years:
In the past 20 years, this was the biggest playoff upset in Vegas. Houston +13 at Utah in ’98 previous biggest. Mavs were 14-point dogs. — Brett Edgerton (@EditorEdge) April 19, 2016
So, the series is now even at 1-1, and game three will be on Thursday night in Dallas.
