When NBA players sees their seasons come to an end, many head off to spend some time during the offseason all across the globe. Jeremy Lin of the Charlotte Hornets, for instance, is spending time in Iceland. While there, he may have just made the day for one 14-year-old basketball star in the making.
Lin was visiting Akureyri, a northern Icelandic town, just getting some ice cream when Júlíus Orri Ágústsson and his family ran into the NBA player and asked for his autograph. Perhaps joking at first, Ágústsson’s mother suggested Lin play her son in a one-on-one competition at their home. Ágústsson is one of the best players in Iceland for his age group, as it turns out. Not one to send a kid and his family away without a story to tell, Lin obliged and laced them up for some backyard basketball.
Of course, there is video evidence to prove this actually happened…
Now, it is entirely possible Lin took it a little easy on the 14-year-old of extreme size, but give some props to Júlíus for holding his own. At one point, Lin even admitted to being a little out of shape. His defense was not quite at 100 percent, but we can cut Lin some slack for his improper apparel at the moment and just for being an all-around good guy looking to make a special memory for an NBA fan abroad.
