Barry Switzer, the former longtime coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, didn’t mince his words when discussing his former school’s matchup against Villanova in the Final Four.

Switzer was tweeting to his more than 66,000 followers in advance of the Kansas Jayhawks matchup against the Villanova Wildcats, writing he wanted to see the Sooners face off against Kansas in the Final Four in hopes that past history between the clubs would reverse itself.

The Jayhawks, the top-seeded team in the South Region, ended up falling to the second-seeded Villanova Wildcats 54-59, turning the ball over 16 times while shooting 46% from the floor. The upset loss meant Switzers’ Sooners weren’t going to get a chance to reverse history. Switzer admitted as much, following up his tweet saying the school “will never know,” but admitted the Sooners could take solace “in kicking Villanova’s ass.”

That’s the spirit Barry. His second-seeded in the West Sooners will take on the Wildcats April 2, with the winner securing a spot in the NCAA Championship game. Given the Sooners have already beaten Villanova earlier this year, Coach Switzer will hope history doesn’t reverse itself now.
