According to an AP source, the Mississippi Rebels football program has been cited by the NCAA in 13 of the 28 rules violations levied against the school in the Notice of Allegations that the school recently received.

According to the source, nine of the 13 violations occurred during Hugh Freeze’s tenure, which has been ongoing since 2012. In that time, Freeze has taken Ole Miss from a middle-of-the-road SEC program to a nationally-ranked, double-digit win team that recently played in the Sugar Bowl.

The other athletics programs involved in the violations include women’s basketball and track and field. The violations are a mixture of Level I (severe breach of conduct), Level II (significant breach of conduct), and Level III (Breach of conduct). Ole Miss self-reported some violations, including a “representative of athletics interests” who provided transportation for recruits between 2011 and 2014. Another self-reported incident involved an assistant coach who made improper contact with a high school recruit.

Mississippi has 90 days to respond to the Notice of Allegations though it’s unclear what date they were received as the school is keeping them under wraps until the investigation concludes.

Some of the violations involving the football program are already known. Left tackle Laremy Tunsil was suspended seven games last season after the NCAA ruled that he had received improper benefits, including usage of three loaner cars. Another NCAA probe involved Louisiana-Lafayette assistant David Saunders, who previously worked at Ole Miss when Houston Nutt was head coach in 2010.
