Seantrel Henderson has had a wildly up-and-down football career. A polished offensive lineman, he was a massive prospect coming out of high school and a freshman starter at Miami. But injuries, failed drug tests and a car crash derailed him in college, and he ended up a seventh-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in the 2014 NFL Draft. In Buffalo he recaptured his former promise, starting 22 games at right tackle over two seasons. Alas, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, forcing him to miss the final five games of the 2015 season.

Then he disappeared.

For much of this offseason, the Bills have had no idea where Henderson was or whether he intended to come to camp. According to the Buffalo News, coach Rex Ryan has not spoken to the tackle since the last day of last season, and one Bills teammate said “nobody knows” if he would even be on the team next year. The Crohn’s diagnosis and resulting surgeries somewhat explained the disappearance, but you’d still think Buffalo would have some idea what was going on.

Well, the bizarre mystery is over.

The Bills were reportedly ready to move forward without Henderson, with Jordan Mills and Cyrus Kouandjio competing for the starting job. Now, assuming Henderson indeed makes it to camp (and is healthy), he’ll be back in the mix. And hopefully he can continue what has so far been a productive NFL career without further incident, so that his roller-coaster life can flatten out a little bit.
