As we told you earlier, it seems quarterback Colin Kaepernick wants to get out of San Francisco and maybe join the New York Jets on the east coast. Who knows just how realistic of a possibility that may be, which we detailed earlier as well, but one thing is for sure. Kaepernick would not receive a warm welcome from Brandon Marshall.

“I don’t want Kaepernick,” Marshall said during an interview on ESPN’s First Take. “I think he’s good. My guy’s Fitz. It’s nothing against Kaepernick. … I have my quarterback, so I’m good.”

Fitz, of course, refers to Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Harvard product is coming off his first season with the Jets since coming over from the Houston Texans, which came one year after a brief stop with the Tennessee Titans, which in itself followed a brief rise to relative fame with the Buffalo Bills.

In his first year with the Jets, Fitzpatrick completed 59.6 percent of his pass attempts for 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, helping the Jets make a late push for a spot in the postseason before ultimately falling just shy. The reality is Fitzpatrick is not at all likely to be the long-term future at the position, and the Jets will evaluate their options with the position moving forward.

It is a bit surprising that Kaepernick wants out of San Francisco before playing a down under Chip Kelly as is being rumored now. It would seem Kaepernick would be the right kind of quarterback to properly run the offense the way Kelly would like, but if nothing else this would suggest Kaepernick is ready for a fresh start of his own elsewhere. Despite taking San Francisco to the Super Bowl, where it fell just short of a championship against Baltimore, Kaepernick has been up and down, and mostly down in recent years.

Get ready for a fun NFL offseason, because this is just the beginning of what could be a very fun few months.

Update: Marshall would later double-down in a confrontation with Jason McIntyre as shown on FS1.
