It appears that the Cam Newton dab era has come to an end.

The Carolina Panthers quarterback told a Charlotte radio station on Wednesday that it’s time to “put that aside” and retire his now-infamous touchdown celebration.

While Newton did not invent the dab — it reportedly started in Atlanta — Newton brought the dance into the national spotlight.

The simple dance move has now been done by everyone, their grandmother and some kids in this year’s National Spelling Bee.

Despite Newton’s retirement of the dab, the Panthers’ quarterback said he will have a new celebration when the 2016 season begins.

For most, seeing the dab trend is worthy of a celebration. But what would we do without the great moments the dab has brought, such as Jim Harbaugh hitting the dab after hitting a homerun off of a tee?

Coach Harbaugh got some pointers for tomorrow’s HR Derby. Learning from the best! Info: msoftballacademy.org.
