When the Dallas Cowboys selected Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott No. 4 overall in this year’s draft, they heaped a good deal of expectations on the 20-year-old’s shoulders. Luckily for Elliot, those heaping expectations came with a mountain of cash as well.
As it turns out, not only does Elliott need the money to take care of himself and his family, he also needs to repay a few debts from his college days.
Former Buckeye quarterback Cardale Jones saw the news that Elliott officially signed his nearly-$25 million rookie deal and hopped on Twitter to remind his former backfield mate about the time he lent him five bucks.

Jones, who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round, will not be hurting for cash when he eventually signs his rookie contract. However, based on his draft position Jones will likely only receive $350,000 in guaranteed money. A sizable figure for sure, but peanuts compared to Elliott’s deal. To Elliott’s credit, he took Jones’ request in stride.

Jones is quite good at Twitter dot com and this is just another reminder of that. If he can find success in the NFL on par with his College Football Playoff run from two seasons ago, the sports world could be in for a real treat both on the field and on social media.
Jones is really one of the more thoughtful and outspoken athletes on the platform, and it would be great if he could increase his relevance and reach with a stellar professional career.
Five extra bucks in his pocket wouldn’t hurt either.
