Leicester City left back Christian Fuchs has his sights set on the NFL once he calls quits on his soccer career.

The 29-year-old doesn’t have any intentions of retiring from the pitch anytime soon but admitted to Sky Sports he ‘seriously’ wants to become an NFL kicker after he hangs up the cleats.

“Depending on the managers in the NFL. If they want a footballer in their team but I am very much up for it.

‘I know I can kick 60 yards or so or 65 yards field goal. Let’s see. Dreams can come true you know if you don’t dream you won’t reach anything.”

Knowing you can kick a 60-yard field goal and actually doing it are two different things, but Fuchs’ ambition is certainly palpable.

Fuchs has been one of the key men in Leicester City’s Cinderella season as they lead the EPL table in spite of 5,000-1 odds at the beginning of the season. The Austrian has appeared in 25 games with the Tigers this season.

Fuchs wouldn’t be the first international star from another sport to be linked to the NFL. David Beckham reportedly declined a tryout offer to become a kicker back in 2013. Rugby star Jarryd Hayne successful made the transition to football last year as a running back with the San Francisco 49ers – so changing sports isn’t impossible. Multiple Australian Rules football stars like Darren Bennett, Ben Graham, and Sav Rocca have made it to the NFL as punters.

As the Daily Mail notes, Fuchs’ family is in New York and he intends to move to the United States once his career is over. So perhaps will see him make good on his claim and watch him attempt 60-yard field goals if he gets a crack at the NFL.
