during the Broncos media availability for Super Bowl 50 at the Stanford Marriott on February 4, 2016 in Santa Clara, California. The Broncos will play the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016.

The shooter of Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib has been identified. According to Talib… it was himself.

In a sequence of events eerily similar to the night former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress shot himself in the thigh, it appears Talib’s gun was the one that fired a bullet into his own right leg.

According to a report from KUSA (an NBC affiliate in Denver), Talib has told “people close to him he accidentally shot himself,” although police in Dallas continue to investigate the incident.

Talib told police he was too drunk to remember the specifics of the incident. Two other shooting victims have been identified by police, although it is unknown, or unconfirmed, how exactly those two additional victims were injured.

As a result of the gunshot wound, Talib will reportedly miss the final two weeks of offseason practice with the defending Super Bowl champions, and he is expected to require six to eight weeks to fully recover from the injury. That puts Talib on track to make a return either early in training camp or the week of the first preseason game on August 11, according to KUSA.

And now, a completely unrelated tweet that just seems to fit this story all too well not to be included.
