It’s one of those things where, although we are told one thing, we know what really went down.

During an interview with Jay Mohr on FOX Sports Radio, Tom Coughlin admitted he didn’t want to stop coaching the New York Giants. “Hey, do I agree with the move? Of course not,” he told Mohr.

Coughlin did say that his relationship with John Mara is the same, and that it’s “respectful and professional.” He also claims that he did not snub Mara when walking out of his farewell press conference, saying that he doesn’t hang around.

Although it sure appeared that was the case:

“I did not snub Mr. Mara if that’s what you’re insinuating,” Coughlin said. “That’s the way I leave press conferences. Why should I hang around to answer one more less-than-glamorous question?”

Mohr asked about the Philadelphia Eagles job and whether or not it was a real thing, to which Coughlin said it was not.

The last we heard from Coughlin, he was at the NFL Combine with Ben McAdoo. Coughlin helped with the league’s Madden Committee. It was evident then that he was having a rough time not coaching, telling NJ.com that, “Your whole life, the calendar of your life is based on football, about the seasons, whether it’s in-season or out of season. You have a schedule that you follow. So there’s some adjusting for me to make.”
