You know it’s the NFL offseason when you’re hearing about players and their weight loss. This case might be one of the more notable ones, though.

Trent Richardson has had quite the interesting NFL career. After a promising rookie season in Cleveland, it seems things have been in constant decline for the former Alabama Crimson Tide punishing running back. But after short tenures in Indianapolis and Oakland, he’s found a new home in Baltimore, and with a new home, he’s found a new him.

The caption of the photo by his former Alabama teammate Mike McCoy reads:

For all the people who counted this man out!!! Trust me when I tell you he is war ready, he is in the best shape of his life and a mindset of a King focused on the next territory to conquer! He will shock the NFL this year… Go shine like the star you are my guy!!! #warehousegang#nodaysoff #grindliketherentdue#itsbetterthisway #nfl and yeah that’s 240 to 218!!!!

Richardson has weighed as much as 240 pounds at his 5-foot-9 frame (which, to be fair, he’s jacked). But now, Richardson has trimmed down to 218 pounds, putting him at an even slimmer frame than what he was in college.

Despite taking the 2015 season off, McCoy set pretty high expectations of Richardson in talking to BaltimoreRavens.com. “Don’t be surprised if you see Trent in the Pro Bowl or if he’s named among the top-five running backs in the league next season,” McCoy told Sarah Ellison. “Mark my words. I love him like he’s family.”

If Richardson is able to make the roster and an impact in the Baltimore backfield, certainly all would consider that a win for the once promising running back. And it could just be one of the best comeback stories in the NFL this year.
