In the second period of Thursday night’s game between the Calgary Flames and Minnesota Wild at Scotiabank Saddledome, the Flames scored what will probably end up being the most bizarre goal of the 2015-2016 NHL season.

Well, technically the Wild scored the goal, thanks to the face of defenseman Matt Dumba.

Watch Flames forward David Jones’ shot — that was nowhere close to the goal — bounce off Dumba’s face and right into the back of net, for a Calgary goal:

Just unbelievably bad luck for Dumba and the Wild on that one.

Thankfully for Dumba, Minnesota still went on to win the game 5-3, so he can laugh off the own goal. That’s of course provided he is even capable of laughing right now, as his face is probably going to be really swollen and sore for a few days.
