Edmonton Oilers rookie Connor McDavid came into the 2015-2016 season with the high expectations one expects when you’re the number one overall pick in the NHL Draft. In his first thirteen games, he scored five goals and dished seven assists. However, in that thirteenth game, he went hard into the boards against the Philadelphia Flyers and broke his collarbone, stifling all of the excitement and hope he brought with him.

McDavid returned to the ice Tuesday night after missing 37 games and immediately reminded everyone just how excited they need to be about him.

With the scored tied 1-1 in the second period of a game between the Oilers and Columbus Blue Jackets, McDavid took the puck and sliced his way through the Jackets’ defense, eventually juking Columbus goalie Joonas Korpisalo out of his pads for the go-ahead goal.

Suffice it to say, McDavid is pumped to be back. Quadruple-pumped, to be specific.

Edmonton poured on two more second-period goals to take a commanding 4-1 lead from there. The Oilers might be in the last place but the future feels a little bit brighter tonight.
