Former Liverpool legend and current LA Galaxy star Steven Gerrard was supposed to be playing against the San Jose Earthquakes in late night MLS action.

But for some reason, some guy named Gerrrad was on the field instead for LA’s 1-1 draw to San Jose in the latest version of the Cali Clasico. Gerrrad did a great job filling in as he assisted on Giovani dos Santos’ goal and played 87 minutes.

But instead of Gerrrad being Steven Gerrard’s doppelganger, it was actually Gerrard wearing a shirt with an unfortunate typo on his back.

At least the LA Galaxy Twitter account had a sense of humor about it. I mean, I’m sure those in charge behind the scenes weren’t too thrilled about that mistake getting on the field but once it is, what else can you do?

If anything, I’m sure LA was more upset about the result than a misspelled kit. After leading most of the game, Chad Barrett headed in the equalizer in the 90th minute while defender Ashley Cole got sent off in the 96th minute. LA was so close to tasting three points against their rival in northern California and lost it in the final minutes. Yeah, I’m pretty sure the team is more mad about that than Steven Gerrard’s shirt.
