What has seemingly been the longest player signing saga in soccer history appears to finally be inching to the finish line. According to a report by ESPNFC, Swedish superstar striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed to terms with English club giant Manchester United for this upcoming season.
Ibrahimovic and Manchester United have seemingly been linked together for as long as now Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho was before making that signing official. The two make a great pair in that sense, and made a great pairing back when both were at Italian side Inter Milan back in the 2008-09 season.
Zlatan becomes a free agent this summer, as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs out and has long been rumored to want to make a move to the English Premier League. In fact, Manchester United and Mourniho have been in talks about a potential move for Ibra from all the way back in March.
According to the report, the two sides will officially sign the one-year deal when Ibrahimovic is done with his international duties at this year’s European Championships for Sweden. Part of the hold up on the contract talks were some of the finer details involved in the one-year deal.
For his part, Ibrahimovic hasn’t let the off-field contract rumors distract his effort for Sweden at Euro 2016.
Zlatan figured in the scoring during Sweden’s 1-1 tie with Ireland in their opener earlier this week, sending in a brutal cross that ended up as an own goal against the Irish.
