Mark Jackson Expected to Push for Brooklyn Nets’ coaching job

Mark Jackson has been looking to get back into coaching over the past year or so and there is one place in particular that he has coveted coaching for quite some time. According to a report from Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Jackson is expected to push for the Brooklyn Nets’ coaching job and has wanted it for awhile.

Lionel Hollins was fired after getting off to a slow start this season and the Nets are going to look for a bigger name to take over the job. Jackson may not be a “huge” coaching name, but he did have a lot of success and a major role in helping turn the Golden State Warriors around.

During the three seasons that Jackson coached the Warriors he led them to a 121-109 record. In his final season with the Warriors in 2013-14, Jackson was able to get his team to a 51-31 record.

There is no question that the Nets could do much worse than Jackson. He may not be the type of coach that they want to lead them back to contention, but he is more than capable of doing so.

It would not be surprising at all to see the Nets give Jackson an interview at the very least. He will likely make his interest very well known, which could develop into interest from the Brooklyn side of things. Jackson will have to push hard, especially with the Nets being willing to spend big bucks to bring in more talent on their roster and likely to their head coaching position.

Rumors will begin to fly about the job moving forward this season, but Jackson is one name to keep an eye on in particular.
