It’s safe to say that through four weeks of college football, we as fans have seen some truly spectacular plays. From Ohio State’s opening touchdown of the 2012 campaign to Kiehl Frazier’s Hail Mary pass against UL-Monroe, it’s been an action packed September so far, with only more great football to come.
But as great as those plays were, they pale in comparison to what Mississippi State’s Johnthan Banks did on Saturday. Watch the video above, and you’ll see that the preseason All-American from Maben, MS literally went, over and then under a South Alabama wide receiver for what is unquestionably the best interception of the early 2012 season.
Given that the game was against South Alabama, and given that nobody outside the city limits of Starkville probably saw this game, it’s easy to see why the play was overlooked until today.
Still, it might be the best play of the 2012 college football season so far.
It also might be the best play we see all season.
